Items must be separated and bundled once they have been properly tagged. This helps dropping off your items go smoothly and quickly.
Items will not be accepted unless properly separated and bundled.
Separate clothes by gender, then by size. For example, group size 4 girls clothes together and girls size 4T clothes separately. See "Sizes for Tags and Bundling" under "Tagging Instructions" at the left.
Separate maternity, coats (fall sale), swimwear (spring sale), Halloween costumes (fall sale), dancewear, and very dressy outfits by gender and type, as these go in separate areas from the regular clothes. Mark these bundles of clothes with a note to ensure they get placed in the correct areas.
Tie off the bundles of clothes preferably with yarn tied through the body of the hangers and tied in a bow. Otherwise, ribbon, bread twist ties, rubber bands, etc. may be used. Please remember, volunteer workers must remove the ties to sell your items. Bright colors work well so that they are visible to the workers.
If you have a single item of one size, leave it separate.
Check your bundles to make sure the safety pins securing the garments have not popped open. This will indicate weak/cheap safety pins.
A NOTE ABOUT SAFETY PINS: Do not waste your money buying discount safety pins. They are not strong enough to hold your clothes on the hanger. If the pin bends easily, your clothes will fall on the floor and will not sell. Therefore, Kid's Market will no longer accept items with cheap/weak safety pins. Nor will we accept items pinned with safety pins too small to hold the item without popping open.
A NOTE ABOUT TYING CLOTHING BUNDLES: The recommended method to tie bundles is to run yarn through the body of the group of hangers so it will not slip off, then pull snug and tie in a bow. The bow will hold during receiving but is fast and simple for volunteers to remove before the sale. Slippery string or ribbon may require a knot to hold.
Heavy zip ties (cable ties) are not acceptable.
Bundle tagged likenesses together such as infant toys, boys shoes, girls shoes or books, in grocery store bags or disposable containers. Bags or boxes of mixed items will not be accepted. The items must be placed in the correct marked location at drop-off.
NOTE: Any item priced $25 or more must be brought to our attention during Receiving, unless it qualifies for a "Big Item Claim Tag". See "Large Items" in menu to the left under "Tagging Instructions".
