First of all, you need to tag your items. To do this, you need TAGS!
The tag template with your four-digit contributor number and barcode on it may have been sent to you by email, or you may have received a paper copy from the store.
Print the tag template on cardstock (50 lb weight or more) using a laser printer. You may use white or light-colored smooth cardstock. (Tags printed using an inkjet printer or on dark colored or textured cardstock are not readable by the barcode scanners at checkout. Also, inkjet barcodes run and become unreadable when wet.)
Cut the tags using the printed guidelines. The correct tag size is 2 ½” x 3”.
You are now ready to fill out the tag.
Use black or blue ink to fill out the tag. Use RED ink for the PRICE if you do not want your items discounted on 25% or 50% off days. Please do not mark the price of donation items with RED ink.
Write clearly and neatly. If you make a mistake, please make a new tag instead of making corrections or using White-Out®. If a tag has been changed, the item may not be sold.
Prices must be in 50-cent increments (i.e. $3.50, $4.00, etc.). This means the lowest price possible is $.50.
Write a detailed description. Description should include brand, color, name of item (shirt, pants, etc.), and list pieces for multi-piece outfit. If you are detailed in describing your item, there is a better chance that the tag and item will be matched up if they become separated otherwise, it cannot be sold or returned.
Include a size when applicable. If the item fits differently from the size on the tag, put “Fits like” and then the size closest to the actual fit.
Infant sizes are by months, not pounds. (example G- 6-9mo., B- 12-18mo.)
Children sizes require the size as a number, not S, M, L, XL, etc. (example G- 6X, B- 4T)
Write “Jr-” and then the size number or size letter for junior sized clothing. (Juniors are odd sizes after "0").
“YM-“ and then the size letter for young men’s sizes (places like American Eagle®, Aeropostale®, Wet Seal®, etc. carry "young men's" sizes).
“M-” followed by the size number or size letter for maternity items.
Place a small “D” in the bottom left corner of the tag for items you want to donate (e.g. you do NOT want the item returned to you if it does not sell). Also, please do not mark the price of donation items with RED ink. Hint: If you always elect to donate your unsold items, you can place a "D" on the bottom left hand corner of each tag on your template before the copies are made to save having to write them in by hand.
